Gallery Exhibition in memory of Simon Brown

Some of you will be aware that my wonderful husband, Simon Brown, died suddenly in 2020. My response was to make art and map the progress of grief and recovery through a series of textile works and paintings.

Memory – Cotton brocade duvet cover, dye , ink and Gutta – 170cm X 130cm – 2021

After three years I was able to share the work in May 2024 as a solo exhibition at Robert Phillips Gallery, Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre. The work included many Japanese textile techniques as well as the symbolism of the River as a life course. The response was very encouraging and humbling. Princes Alice Hospice are planning to show the work next year May 2026.

The large textile works are made using many of the Japanese shibori and resist techniques I have learned through collecting kimono fabrics.
